A ceramic-to-metal seal (CTMS) is a component in which a ceramic material is joined to a metal part in a gas-tight manner. Ceramics offer excellent electrical insulation, temperature resistance, and chemical resistance, while the metal provides mechanical strength and connectivity.
These pressure-, temperature-, and electricity-resistant connections are used where standard seals reach their limits—for example, in vacuum or high-temperature environments.
Technology for extreme operating conditions
CTMS are manufactured using specialized metallization and brazing processes, in which ceramic insulators are joined to metal parts in a positive-locking and gas-tight manner.
This connection creates a robust, vacuum-tight, and electrically insulated structure that withstands even extreme temperatures, high electrical loads, vacuum conditions, and thermal cycling.
