Glass Feedthroughs for the Telecommunications Industry

  • Transistor sockets are used in fiber optic applications as housings for receiver and transmitter assemblies.
  • Hybrid and special housings are used to protect electronic circuits and components of receiver and transmitter modules.
  • In addition, our feedthroughs are used in data communication, microwave technology, and high-speed data transmission.

Transistor Headers

Electrovac has over 60 years of expertise in transistor header manufacturing. Transistor housings or TO headers with standard dimensions were produced as mass products in the past to keep manufacturing costs as low as possible.

Depending on the sealing technology, various metal variants are used:

  • As compression glass feedthrough: cold-rolled steel or stainless steel with NiFe pins or Kovar pins
  • As matched glass feedthrough: Kovar or Alloy 42 with Kovar pins

The base plates or caps are manufactured in our own stamping production facility using stamping technology or deep-drawing technology. Transistor headers are nickel-plated and gold-plated according to customer requirements and further processing methods.

Due to the large number of existing transistor headers, we do not offer standard catalogs, but instead develop our production processes flexibly according to our customers’ requirements and design specifications.

Battery Covers

Our battery covers have been used for lithium-thionyl chloride and thermal batteries for more than 30 years. These Li-SOCl2 batteries ensure optimal electronic power supply.

To withstand the aggressive materials of these applications and ensure long shelf life and device safety, Electrovac has developed processes for manufacturing high-quality battery covers with special glasses. These guarantee extremely low discharge and are used at temperatures from -65°C to 150°C. The service life of these quality products is up to 25 years.

We manufacture hermetic feedthroughs with steel and stainless steel covers in various sizes, such as: AA, C, D, DD, and many more. Whether in mass production of 30 million battery covers per year or in small quantities for special projects (e.g., for thermal batteries) – Electrovac stands for flexibility and quality.
