Special and hybrid packages

 

Electrovac manufactures hermetically sealed special and hybrid packages for customers all over the world.

These customized special and hybrid packages are used in the aviation industry, satellites, opto-electronics, the microwave and laser technology, power electronics, telecommunications and the medical technology for the long-lasting protection of sensitive electronic switches without loss in performance.

Over several years, we have addressed the requirements of our customers in all market segments and have developed into a flexible quality leader and a competent as well as competitive partner with a product portfolio ranging from small quantities for niche applications to series production volumes.

> Machined housings can be manufactured for almost any design:

    •  Steel, stainless steel or kovar
    • In soldered variants the bathtub bottom can also be provided in Al, Cu, MoCu and CuW to improve the thermal performance.
    •  The exterior dimensions are designed to meet customer specifications.
    •  Build method: machined

 

> Terminal pins:

    • kovar, NiFe or alternative materials for high-current applications

 

In a hybrid package the terminal pins are glass sealed either parallel to the sidewall of the bathtub (flatpacks) or in the bathtub bottom (plug-in).
 

> Bathtub/frame:

    • Steel or kovar
    • In soldered variants the bathtub bottom can also be provided in Cu, MoCu or CuW to guarantee improved thermal performance.
    • The exterior dimensions are designed to meet customer specifications.
    • Build method: deep drawn or machined

 

> Terminal pins:

    • Kovar or alternative materials for high-current applications

 

 

> Base plate:

    • Steel, stainless steel or kovar
    • The exterior dimensions are designed to meet customer specifications.
    • Build method: progressive stamping tools

 

> Terminal pins:

    • Kovar, NiFe or alternate materials for high-current

 

> Applicable to special and hybrid housings

    • Plating: Ni and Au depending on further processing technology
    • Covers and caps can be supplied along with the hermetically sealed package.

 

The test methods are based on MIL STD 883 or JEDEC STD.
